Late For Embargo

This week is rather slow in notable releases on Switch, so a couple of things are thrown in to hopefully get you excited for things to come. Mainly Smash Bros. Ultimate, but if you’re a Switch owner you are probably already very excited and didn’t need the reminder.

Detective Pikachu Movie

Starring Ryan Reynolds, the Detective Pikachu trailer dropped. It surprisingly doesn’t look too awful either! This might actually be the first video game movie to exist that isn’t bad. Of course, there are some uncanny valley things with some of the Pokémon especially Mr. Mime, but for the most part the CGI looks surprisingly good.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

At the time of posting this there’s currently only 23 days left until Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes out! If you’re like me and have to much anticipation for this game and are getting tired of waiting then I recommend scouring the Smash subreddit. You can devour all the morsels of people able to play the game at tournaments, and are generous enough to post videos of it.

Rouge Legacy

A game to play endlessly that’s different each time you die. That’s what Rogue Legacy is. An ultimate representation of the rouge-like dungeon crawler genre. With each death your heir will take up the mantle and continue what you started. Bringing new traits for the player to capitalize on with each play.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

In time for the centennial anniversary of the end of World War I, Valiant Hearts: The Great War comes to Switch. It tells the stories of five people with intertwined destinies in a world at war. The game features a unique comic art style for the player to navigate through in a 2D space and is as emotional as it is educational.
